A CULTURE OF LOVE

Love is a blessing, it must be fully embraced
giving
taking
in complementary ways, while developing taste
talking
communing
with close friends and family, if done without haste
dating
romancing
a lover, showing them a good time, being soft paced
sorting
ideas
to see what works in tight spaces when interlaced
creating
expansions
of old projects, taking the time to illustrate
resorting
hiding
needs you want met till finding someone so disgraced
growing
pursuing
goals developed over time, finding those truth based
artistic
endeavors
keep the mind active, till fulfilled or to let go
making
whoopee
is the highest honor you can pay, so go slow
thinking
developing
ideas into projects, finding the love's flow
ethos
pathos
bring both together in ways with love to bestow
meeting
connecting
with neat people, taking the time to get to know
tying
relationships
together, the cosmos makes it possible though
growing
loving
relationships through complementary ways to show
completing
promises
as quick as possible, love's middle light to glow
heritage
bridging
roots that need cooperation so they can rise
colors
changing
in the sunlight, though eyes can hold the bolder lies
twisting
going
beyond the norms of love, looking for a surprise
leading
charming
others to follow love, yet turning it edgewise
forming
leadership
rules with your group, because it usually applies
reforming
notions
of romance when unusual problems arise
breaking
away
from normal rules when nature's ways must emphasize
spiritual
leanings
open the door to investigation, sunrise
mystical
horizons
open views to new worlds, hastening a new light
mythical
magic
is happening when love is at the door, moonlight
cultivating
mature
ideas, showing love, then finding its limelight
humanizing
knowledge
of mankind, changing views to avoid a bad slight
attitude
adjustments
make life easier, bringing love to its highlight
waiting
being
patient to gain an advantage, with good foresight
tailoring
romantic
ideas to each love, like romance by twilight
reverie
letting
go of regrets to allow love in the spotlight.

TORTURED SOULS

Souls need both warm tenderness and toughness to grow
patience
teaches
us how to deal with struggles of finding love's flow
romance
begins
with struggles of finding someone to get to know
dating
getting
stood up by someone who finds too much time to crow
relaxing
trying
to get some fool off of the mind, just letting go
musing
meditating
to sooth the soul, weaving back and forth, to and fro
twilight
sitting
alone, feeling low, subconsciously harsh winds blow
sunlight
mornings
bring light of love, demons hiding somewhere below
troubled
senses
have a foothold in your soul, cosmic demons grind
mistreated
people
feel bad for a while, holding distrust in the mind
abused
repressed
women hold back, til they can let loose in like kind
humiliation
given
without purpose is torture that brings rage entwined
shackles
binding
the wrists are only one kind, of the mind, unkind
suffocation
mentally
brings oppression to feelings of being maligned
persecution
subjection
to undue punishment makes one feel quarantined
suffering
inflicted
by others brings feelings of being undermined
anguish
becoming
depression does real harm, preventing inward light
harassing
moments
become a passion that can lead to a fistfight
bullied
romantics
can cause active minds to seeking of a bullfight
enslaved
psyches
rebel over time, like a banshee in the night
shielding
lovers
from abuse, caring ways to bring love to its height
drugging
taking
advantage for sexual purposes, highlight
dictating
conditions
of endearment are cold to the heart, appetite
brutalized
assaults
take love to very dark places, sex - the limelight
retribution
unleashed
on a lover is strictly abuse, setting traps
coercing
forcing
others to go against their will may cause bad scraps
troubled
waters
stir up problems in time, creating cosmic gaps
betraying
buddies
harms the friendship, on relationships presents cracks
haunting
images
leave impressions on the mind, seeming to break backs
insulting
remarks
leave marks on the soul, especially not based on facts
traumatized
victims
become haunted by how they were treated, relapse
living
loving
and letting go of regrets, playing solo taps.

ROMANTIC LOVE

Romance is a never ending adventure
moments
getting
lost in reverie, becomes a new measure
patience
becomes
waiting for a call from a lover, to treasure
sentimental
journeys
bring more reverie to the heart, in leisure
surviving
struggles
over time, keeping love on the heart, in splendor
pursuing
lovers
at night, developing feelings in each venture
dating
teasing
romantically, while keeping fun in the pleasure
working
playing
to stay busy, remaining true to soul's pressure
entertaining
partying
occasionally with close friends, for reality
suffering
loneliness
sometimes, yet feeling happy about being free
dreaming
illusions
come to the mind, when feeling like a nobody
sensitivity
compassion
grows empathy, letting go regrets happily
coming
going
steady diets of normalcy does not agree
searching
reality
shows for something good to watch, feeling so sappy
walking
talking
to yourself, making more of nothing jumpily
relaxing
musing
about new horizons, finding truths, leaves of tea
meditating
sensing
the future, gaining wisdom where life has a flow
daydreaming
believing
in delusions, never ending sadness stands low
creating
ideas
to bring to fruition projects, a time to crow
pushing
limits
of tolerance, finding strengths to which you may owe
singing
humming
a tune stuck in the heart, subconscious wild winds blow
transcending
naivety
begins a journey to wonderlands by rainbow
wisdom
awakens
the depths of the soul, like candlelight in escrow
blessings
ripen
when love is given, no expectations in tow
quixotic
thinking
brings new horizons, with a sensible delight
glamour
enhanced
with love is a wench and a pirate by twilight
melancholy
sentiments
bring doom and gloom, like banshees flying, dark of night
sensual
pleasures
are romantic when given as the evenings highlight
whimsical
gambles
bring good fortune when love is the evening's limelight
seductive
advances
bring romance to fruition, making love, ignite
amorous
beginnings
bring love making to its horizon, to invite
flirtatious
endings
open doors to love, no matter the appetite.

PATRICK MICHAEL

PATRICK MICHAEL: He is a male, 72 years old, born July 19, 1944 in Bluffton, IN USA with extensive background in many areas, and, until very recently had not planned to publish except for family and close friends who love poetry. With the coming of age of self publishing, he now plans to spread his words as far as possible. He was born and raised in small towns in North Central Indiana, attending schools in Marion, Summitville and Huntington Indiana through grade 11. He graduated from Brentwood High School in Brentwood, MO in St. Louis County, but claims both it and Huntington High School, as his alma maters with the Classes of 1962.  He speaks only English well. He comes from a family of very warm and talented people and learned many of his skills from his dearly, departed Mother. She was an extremely talented woman with the voice of an angel, a coloratura soprano, as well as being a superb pianist with concert quality skills. He is a 100% Disabled Vietnam Vet and has a lifelong disease, Multiple Sclerosis, which he has dealt with and you would never know he has it when looking at him today. He overcame it's grip on his life in late 1994, suffering few side affects now and takes no medication for it. He first noticed health issues associated with it at age 15, but was not diagnosed till 1981. It stopped him from finishing his higher education in 1973, causing him concentration problems. He kept learning by other means throughout his life, which in time will be apparent if you read enough of his poetry. During his working years he was always working with his mind and hands to be creative, studied medical science for his families benefits as well as his own, religions and spirituality, as well as the social and physical sciences, with particular emphasis on relationships and gender differences. He worked for the Defense Department in the mapping and charting field and for the CIA near the end of his career. He has lived in many places since his divorce in 2004, among them Orlando, FL, San Jose, CA, Bellingham, WA and now, since 2008 in Shoreline, WA.
